Join-Renew Online Now

Many LWV-GTA members, those whose renewal date is 6/30/25, will be receiving renewal reminders at the end of April. The renewal reminders will come from membership@lwv.org.

If you joined the League after June 30, 2024, your renewal date will be 12 months from the date you joined. You will receive an email reminder 60 days before your renewal date.

Any member can renew at any time using this renew here link. When you renew you will also have the option to make an additional donation to LWVGTA. You can also make a donation at any time using this donate here link.

There is a new process this year giving everyone the ability to renew online, to update their information (address, phone number, etc). Also new this year is the option to choose your own dues amount (minimum $20). The recommended dues amount is still $75, and there is the option to make an additional contribution if you would like to do so.

Things to know:

  • Your League dues have always been shared between the local, state and national Leagues, but now it will be visible to you. Your credit card payments will show as three lines on your statement with 20% of your dues going to local, 47% to state and 33% to national.
  • You have the option to renew for a second person. The online system will double whatever dues amount you specify to make a dues payment for two people.
  • You can still pay by check. Send the check, made out to LWVUS to our P.O Box 671, Traverse City, MI 49685. Be sure to let Ingrid know if there are any changes to your contact information.
  • Once you have completed the renewal process, you will be given the option to answer some demographic questions. These are optional (or they will have an option of "prefer not to say").
  • You may see a box of information that shows your LWVGTA membership and your expiration date. That box may have other information that can be ignored (might show LWV Michigan expiring in Jan 2023 for example, this is from an old database error).

Step-by-step written instructions are here and a link to a short video is here.

If you have any questions, please call/text Alice Schuman, 917-664-4358 or send an email to info@lwvgta.org

How are membership dues used?

The suggested annual dues amount is $75, the minimum is $20, you decide the amount that is right for you. The dues for local LWVGTA membership are used for local events such as candidate forums and educational programs; for State LWV-MI membership, used to support statewide activities such as supporting Proposal 2 to expand access to voting in Michigan; and for National LWV-US membership, used to support VOTE411 and other nationwide projects. The dues are divided 20% to local, 47% to state, 33% to national.

How much time does it take?

It's up to you! Many members choose to support the League only with their annual dues. Your membership alone gives us the political influence needed to build a voice for citizens and a force for change. We cover a broad spectrum of issues and concerns; you may choose to become involved in one or more of them by actively participating in a group study, listening to a panel of experts at a meeting or just reading about them in one of our publications.

What do I get?

You automatically become a member of LWV Michigan and LWV of the United States. You will receive their publications along with the newsletter from the League of Women Voters of the Grand Traverse Area. You will have the knowledge that you are adding your voice to a powerful force of members from all 50 states, Washington DC, the Virgin Islands, and Hong Kong.
